RESEARCH INTERVIEW
My interview with Kavitha, B.C., PHRII's Lab Research Manager
PHRII provides access to voluntary, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive services for family planning, reproductive health, and HIV/HPV medical screenings to dozens of women in Mysore, India. Because I was able to have the opportunity to spend my summer with this institution, I decide to interview Miss Kavitha, and she was more than happy to answer some of my questions. Kavitha has over 7 years of experience working in evidence based research treatments for minorities populations in India. She has played exceptional lead roles in some of the most ground breaking medical research studies. Kavitha is the lead institution's research lab assistant, outreach worker, and counselor as well. In the lab she works closely with biomedical sample testings, treatments, and diagnosis. Kavitha explains a few of PHRII's projects, interventions, and strategies, against HIV/HPV & cervical cancer. From a researchers perspective, we get an insight at some of the challenges and successes encountered while working with minority populations. We discuss her opinion and experiences on the effects on women's stigma and discrimination.
