On our second week in Mysore, we traveled to the district of Dharwad to visit one of the many beautiful Talukas there. During our time there, we resided in Kadumane Homestay. We were embraced by Dandeli's rainforest, lifestyle, and culture. Here, the founders of the facility, Dr. Indira and the other staff, had many activities and events planned for us! The following images attempt to demonstrate only a little bit of our amazing encounters; wildlife, medicinal gardens, mobile health clinics, and local health practitioners! What an unforgettable time!
PHRII & WOMENS HEALTH
With the help of Prerana- The Public Health Research Institute of India, we were able to have a special insight into the world of women's health in Mysore, India. PPHRII provides free cervical screening mobile clinics for rural villages in Mysore. Counseling, diagnosis, treatment, education, and awareness are some of the few initiatives they focus on. We were able to help and participate in one of the mobile clinics set up in the village of Sagarkatte on May 23rd. PHRII also partners and connects with other women's aid institutions. Odanadi-Home for Human Trafficking Victims, is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating women and children victims of sex trafficking. We were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to visit this facility and get to know more about the founder Mr. Stanley.
