ABOUT ME
My name is Daniela Monroy and I am a senior studying psychology at Florida International University. I enjoy gaining experience as a research assistant and being involved in my community. I have always had a passion to help those in need and then I realized my passion became a calling I wanted to pursuit for the rest of my life. As an FIU student interested in Clinical Psychology, my aim is to help vulnerable populations, minorities, and communities all around the world. I am passionate about learning and intervening in the ongoing issues in my world and in my society.
When I heard about the opportunity to study abroad in Mysore, India; I was eager with the opportunity this program provided me in expanding my learning outside the surface of what I've always known. I would say I always had somewhat of an idea of the issues that revolved around developing countries. However, as I researched further, I was compelled by India's ongoing issues. This summer, as I get the opportunity to encounter such health issues in the community, this opportunity is a launching force for me to take action and contribute my support. In addition, being able to further my education through experience and understanding of cultures is what furthers my passion to take my education and transform it into service. I am eager to be a part of this health campaign and an amazing team committed to bringing change.
In PHRII, our mission will be to develop a fund raising campaign in order to raise funds for resources available to HIV-Infected children and their mothers.
